Setting an Example Through Safe Practices: Cole Bronson

Cole Bronson has a melting pot of professional experience. From operating his own video production company and driving for a national shipping & receiving organization to working at a school for children with developmental disabilities, Bronson brings bits and pieces from each experience to his current role as a damage prevention supervisor at Bermex.

Bronson says he tries to proceed with his day-to-day supervisor responsibilities with those past experiences and work with different teams and try to make sure everyone is on the same page. Being aligned and transparent with the New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) teams is something that Bronson greatly values.

“We’re all out there serving the same purpose – keeping people safe,” he explains. “We’re all on the same team, whether it’s Bermex, the AVANGRID family, or even the contractors. At the end of the day, we want everyone to go home safe to their families.”

He also notes, “Some of the contractors they think were just out there to nag them, for lack of a better word, but that’s not the case. We’re here to help inform and educate. At the end of the day, we’re working to prevent damages and to make sure everyone goes home safe.”

Bronson is making safety a priority in more than one way. The damage prevention supervisor stepped into a new role at the beginning of 2024 as the Bermex Area Safety Representative (ASR) chairperson.

The Bermex ASR team assists in safety communications, safety auditing, identifying at-risk behaviors, near-miss reviews, and incident investigations – overall, making the workplace safer. The team serves as safety champions and act as a conduit between safety management and field employees. They aid in the training and tracking of safety-related items throughout their region and mentor those who need extra help.

As the chairperson, Bronson serves as a voice for his peers. “I appreciate how everyone comes together. We’re all from different walks and different jobs, but we’re all out in the field, so you get to see different perspectives.”

Whether it’s our employees, customers, or contractors, it’s employees like Bronson who help keep Bermex and the communities we serve safe. Learn more about our commitment to safety.
