Aug. 11, 2025 — Stow, Ohio — Bermex, a leading provider of utility meter reading services, is proud to announce the appointment of Thomas Gooch as its new Director of Operations. In this role, Gooch will oversee all field operations, ensuring Bermex continues its strong focus on safety, service, and operational excellence. His leadership will guide operational strategy, workforce development, and performance improvements to meet the evolving needs of the utility industry.
Gooch brings more than two decades of experience in the utility and energy sectors to the position. He most recently served as Director of Area Operations at Duke Energy Corporation, where he spent nearly 25 years leading teams of over 300 employees, managing budgets of up to $50 million, and delivering measurable improvements in safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. His hands-on leadership style and deep operational expertise make him a natural fit for Bermex’s continued growth.
“Thomas’s depth of experience, combined with his strong leadership capabilities, makes him an ideal choice to guide our operations team,” said Tommy Combs, President of Bermex. “He has already hit the ground running, and I’m confident his impact will be felt across the organization as we continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers.”
Before beginning his utility career, Gooch served four years of active duty as a U.S. Marine Corps Infantryman and four years in the USMC Reserve. After his military service, he worked as a lineman for the local union before joining Duke Energy in the same role.
“I’m proud to join Bermex and take on this responsibility,” Gooch said. “This is a team with a strong track record, and I look forward to building on that success and leading us toward new opportunities.”
